Background:

Katspoegie is a small Game Jam prototype I am making with my brother, using physical miniatures, 3D printed objects and Clay figures that have been digitized and fused with Unity's Shaders and Lighting system, creating a hauntingly unique visual aesthetic.

Gameplay:


Katspoegie is a Top Down, Tower/Hero Defense Hybrid inspired by Vampire Survivors and Ikaruga, where the Tower keeps changing between Blue and Red and the player needs to match their own colour and tag enemies with the correct colour in order for the Tower to be able to recognize and target them.

Basically, Imagine Vampire Survivors & Ikaruga made a clay baby inside a Tower...Defense?


Premise:


You take the role of a valiant little soldier who must hop into and use the trusty micro-ship, the Katspoegie, to protect the village of the Kabouter people and prevent the sacred Crystal of Power to be stolen.


Current Status and Future Plans:


At this stage this prototype contains the core structure for all the main gameplay mechanics, including a full Menu and UI system and extensive Tutorial sequence and then a 20 Minute Survival Challenge.

I would like to be able to create a full retail game out of this concept, I have 3 other game modes planned out that I will be doing in future Game Jam Prototypes as well as 5 other level themes and art that my brother and I have prepared for them, so I hope we will be able to push this project to its full commercial potential and give everyone the best game possible :)

Hi everyone, I got my 1st Game Jam Prototype out, I've always just done commercial projects and never thought I would enjoy Game Jams so much, I didn't think I would get it done in a month, but with the help of my brother, who made all the clay figurines and handcrafted miniatures I think we more or less got the core concept and aesthetics that we were aiming for in terms of prototype scope at least.

We would really like to carry on with the concept in the near future, we have some crazy other game modes and levels that we want to try out and then get everything combined into one monster package.

Would love to hear what everyone thinks and how we can improve the formula as well as fine tune the experience.
